If you are anything like me then you love Hamilton and will consume a lot of things set around Hamilton. This collection is ON POINT. It is one of the best short story collections I have read. Below I’m going to talk about each short story in some detail without spoilers.

Promised Land by Rose Lerner – This is a new author for me. Like I somehow have completely missed out on Rose Lerner previous to this, but now I know. I know that I need to read her entire back catalog. She manages to create one of my favorite plot points which involves a woman pretending to be a man. Her former lover as a spy. Well things spiral out of control as he could reveal her real identity of course. And let me tell you it is GOOD. I loved this story.

The Pursuit of… by Courtney Milan – I’ve read Courtney Milan before , but I’m not sure the last time one her stories had me cackling out loud. Seriously I could not stop laughing. The cheese and the romance between a black american soldier and a British officer. Well it gets hot and really interesting.

That Could Be Enough by Alyssa Cole –  I’ve had Cole on my TBR for a while. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve not read anything else by her yet because I know I want to. Either way this one brings us the shy servant of Eliza named Mercy. Mercy slowly discovers her and Andromeda (killer name) are falling in love. I quickly found myself wanting to hang out with both of these characters and really just smiling throughout the story.

I really can’t recommend this collection enough. It’s delightful. Each story is very different, but they all provide the pieces I want in a romance but condensed into a short story. Great way to try out some amazing authors and maybe you’ll find a new favorite!
