It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s finally fall and the south is kind of cooling off. Kind of. September included some good reads and some okay ones. I actually DNF’d one book this month too. Currently sitting two books away from my goal for the year of 100 books.
Reading Quest Books
Here are all the books I read for the reading quest in September. You can find my weekly wrap ups for that here where my full thoughts live.
Onto my other reads this month!
One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake is my favorite book from September reading. For real this series is my new favorite of all time. I can’t stop recommending it for anyone who is interested in some dark and twisted YA. GO READ IT! It’s an easy 5 stars series for me.
Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson here we have a book and author that PeruseProject kept mentioning recently. I was able to snag a copy from the library and devoured it. Really interesting story and I’m excited to read the rest of the series in October hopefully. 3/5 stars it suffers from first book problems, but is still enjoyable.
I continued my Agatha Christie adventures with And Then There Were None. This was really interesting and a great audiobook. 4/5 stars
Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai was delightful. I thought I wouldn’t like it, but it was great. It’s old lovers turned lovers again. It’s full of great representation and hot scenes. I really want to read the rest of the series and encourage you to give it a try. 4/5 stars
Levar Burton Podcast Catch Up!
I count these towards my reading goal because it’s time I’m choosing to spend with a story no matter how small it may be.
1,000 Year Old Ghosts by Laura Chow Reeve This one was weird. I didn’t love it or hate it. It was an easy 3 star rating for me.
The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu – Wow. This one was gorgeous writing and heart breaking. I really want to pick up the full short story collection soon and read it. 5 stars
I’m pretty happy with my count this month. I read a total of 12 books this month which is great! I lemmed my book club selection since it was terrible (blog post coming soon).
October is looking pretty decent for reading time for me. I hope to wrap up a few more of my audiobooks and keep knocking my TBR pile down.
