#MakeMeReadIt Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

homosapiensThis week was slow for reading so I only finished the top two books from the poll.  I plan to incorporate more of my TBR into the reading quest.

Simon left me surprised. I didn’t think I would like this book honestly. I worried it would be bad LGBTQ* representation as I don’t know Albertalli’s background before writing this one. It’s not #ownvoices so I know that always plays a factor when it comes to representation. I quickly found myself locked into the story though. I tore through this one in less than 24 hours. It was delightful. I cried a little and I laughed a lot.

I kept trying to guess who was the mystery man behind the email address. I love how it unfolded and how much of it was enjoyable.

I definitely recommend this one, but have the caveat that the content contains forced coming out and blackmail which could trigger some.

I can’t wait to read The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli now!

Did you read a book recently that surprised you? Let me know in the comments!
